Taupo to Rotorua Day Trip

8 Hours
Up to Up to 10 guests guests

About This Experience

We collect you from your Taupo accommodation and journey north to Rotorua – New Zealand's geothermal heartland and the centre of Māori culture in the North Island. Our first stop is Te Puia, home to the famous Pōhutu Geyser – the largest active geyser in the Southern Hemisphere, erupting up to 30 metres high. Explore the bubbling mud pools, silica terraces, and steaming vents of the Whakarewarewa Geothermal Valley. Te Puia is also home to the New Zealand Māori Arts and Crafts Institute, where you can watch master carvers and weavers practicing ancient traditions. We continue to the Redwoods – Whakarewarewa Forest, where towering California Redwoods create a cathedral of green. Walk among these giants on forest trails, breathing in the fresh, earthy air. Enjoy lunch in Rotorua township, then choose your afternoon adventure – perhaps the Government Gardens with its Tudor-style Rotorua Museum, a visit to a natural hot spring, or exploring Kuirau Park's free geothermal features right in the heart of town. We return to Taupo as the afternoon fades, having experienced the best of Rotorua's unique offerings.

I've traveled extensively, but this was something else entirely. The attention to detail, the stories our guide shared, and the exclusive access we got to places most tourists never see made this unforgettable. We felt like VIPs the entire day. Highly recommend for anyone who values quality over quantity.

Best day of our NZ trip. Professional, punctual, fantastic.
